Hi all. I haven't posted here before*, but I thought it was about time I did
and so... erm.. here I am.
Hi.
Again.
I'm a fairly recent (say the last 18 months) Pratchett fan compared to some
if not most of you and assume many of you have been here (well... not *here*
exactly, but you get the idea) since the 'beginning'.
I have been reading here for around six months, but didn't really have
anything to add or say until now. Except to say that I'm sorry to hear about
PTerry's recent loss and that hardly seemed an appropriate time to introduce
myself. I hope he and his family are coming to terms with it and am sure
they will eventually feel better in themselves. Having recently lost my
father I would like to think I might know some of the things that go through
our minds at such times.
Over to another, happier subject altogether.
In the 18 or so months, since I started reading and indeed collecting
everything Pratchett/Discworld. I've managed to pick things up through
various (all legal I hasten to add) means such as bookshops, bootsales,
charity shops and ebay (well... basically those four places really.)
Since reading the second book, which I first read years ago as a child,
promptly forgot about until I re-read it recently and recognised it as 'that
funny fantasy book I couldn't remember the name of', I then read the first.
I've never been one for orthodox methodology. Or it seems, short and
sense-making sentences. Anyway, I have been hooked ever since and have
managed to pick up paperback and/or hardback copies of every DW book there
is (I believe, unless there
are actually more than 29 'main' books up to Thud!) plus most of Pterry's
other non-DW stuff and many other DW/TP bits and bobs.
I admit that I haven't read all of the books yet, but I am currently reading
through my tenth. I have read 7 of the earlier DW books in no particular
order (see above) and have enjoyed each one massively. I look forward to
catching up on the rest.
I generally read when on holiday or at the weekend, which is why I may
appear to be a bit of a slow reader. Which I'm not. Honest.
Anyway, after all that nonsense I'll get to my point. I discovered
Clarecraft about a week after they closed down. The only way I can purchase
stuff á la Clarecraft is through ebay. I was until recently using
Clarecrafts own website as a 'catalogue' to see what I might take a look for
next. It vanished over the weekend. Damn.
Does anyone know if there is a 'complete' Clarecraft Discworld catalogue
available? I've tried various links through google and they all come up
dead. Please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even if they are
regarding my attrocious punctuation or spelling. (Broken spellcheck in
Outlook, oook)
I hope nobody here has been blinded by my chatter, or fallen asleep due to
boredom and that those still reading aren't expecting a punch-line. There
isn't one and this is not the worlds most elaborate joke. Sorry. Any replies
would be greatly appreciated. One day I might even post again if I have
anything else worthy of saying.
Looking forward to (buying) Wintersmith. And hopefully by then I might even
be on my twelfth book.
Bye for now.
*Technically this is the third... fourth time I've posted here but as I
managed to make such a complete and utter C.M.O.T Dibbler doing clickies of
it, I sent a 'delete' to my other messages and started again. Thanks for the
reply 'peachy', at least I made some sort of impression. Even if it is the
impression of an imcompetent nincompoop. Ruddy
spellchecker/outlook/stupidity on my part.

Hi Alan, nice to meet you. Please do not be alarmed at some of
the 'monster' threads currently ... er ... current on afp. We're going
through one of our periodic bouts of navel gazing but normal
service will be resumed as soon as we get around to working out
what passes for normal around here. In the meantime, have a
virtual beverage of your choice and enjoy the fireworks.

The best resource I know for this sort of thing is the 'Merchandise'
section on Bonsai Discworld http://www.bonsaidiscworld.com/

Exactly the same thought occurred to me so I popped over there to what
kind of Clarecraft stock they still had - only to find that they didn't
have any atm. However, they do mention that they have come across the
odd pieces from time to time, so it might be worth keeping your eye on
the site.

Cat, chair, alligator, bastard, hedgehog, small uncertain Brussels
sprout for no apparent reason. Pull up an orange box. Oh, and welcome.
Or something, but it's late and I'm not sure.

generously decided to share with us..
Look.. just bugger off will you.. Oops.. did I say that out loud?..
sorry.. I didn't mean it.. well, actually I *did* mean it but I didn't
really.. I'm on a short fuse at the moment.. ermm.. cat, alligator
(possibly deceased but I wouldn't trust the sod), chair, chocolate,
roundabouts, bread products, BEER!..
Hmmmm.. beer sounds good.. would you like a pint or several..
I would..
Would you like to join me?.. I don't mean that in a "falling apart" way
obviously as that would be more Goons than Pratchett and that would
never do..
Worse than Python really..
Ermm.. what was I saying?..
Oh.. Hello..
Gid

Thanks for that. Useful site and quite a bit of stuff I've never even seen
before... buggrit I'm going to end up with a bigger collection than I'd
imagined, so I'll need more space to put it in and I'll probably end up
broke.
<crosses fingers that the lottery comes up in my favour tonight>
Really should think of a sig.
